ISNA Canada is Back: Back to issuing Tax Receipts!

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatu Allah Wa Barakatu

Dear community member,

We thank the Almighty for the tremendous strength of our community and we thank you for your support and the power of your duas.  A year of tests and challenges has ended and we are taking the time to share some recent news.

Firstly, we are pleased to announce that, as of September 12, 2019, the CRA sanctions are lifted and ISNA Canada is once again able to issue tax receipts for donations. We have addressed the gaps that were identified in the 2007 – 2009 CRA audit and paid off the associated penalty.  Our banking challenges are also behind us now as we have built strong relationships with new financial institutions and established protocols to avoid future risks.

Secondly, during the summer, we sadly bid farewell to three of our leaders who moved on from ISNA Canada.  We thank them for all their contributions and pray for their success.

In the life of a registered charity, very few adversities come close to what ISNA Canada has overcome of late.  As the saying goes “the best part of any challenge lies in the opportunities it presents.” Our team has been learning from our past experiences, gaining knowledge about what to avoid and developing strength to improve continuously.   ISNA Canada is back on track for strong growth, and a bright future paved towards our vision of developing:

Vibrant Muslim communities as catalysts for positive change in Canada

With that in mind, we have been working on a series of changes and programs to better serve you and, in the coming weeks, we will be sharing with you some exciting announcements about new leaders joining our family and new programs to develop and engage our youth.

To start off, based on your input and suggestions we have revamped our website to simplify the navigation and reflect the renewed mission of ISNA Canada. Please visit the website at www.isnacanada.com and share your thoughts and ideas with us.

We are also hosting a Fundraising Dinner event titled  “Planting the Seeds of Hope | Building a Better Future”. We would love to have you join us on September 29th at Lakeshore Convention Center at 6 pm, to learn about how far ISNA Canada has come and our plans moving forward. Tickets may be purchased online https://plantingseedsofhopeisna.eventbrite.com and we look forward to welcoming you.

We are grateful for the countless blessings of Allah SWT and the continuous support of our community.
